Collection: Skill Building

These classes are designed for all levels. Beginners classes are made for the total novice. Tiers are for those with some pottery experience who want to improve or perfect their current skills. We're letting you determine your skill level. We will not be going back over skills you should have for each tier from a prior earlier.

These prerequisites are here for your good. We want you to have the ability to make high-quality pots. In order to make something like a teapot, you need other skills to be in place so that your final piece is high quality. By doing these classes, you'll also become faster and more consistent in all your throwing and hand building.

Beginners    You have no experience. 

Tier 1     You have basic skills like centering and basic throwing, but need to work on improving those skills.

Tier 2     You've improved your basic skills: cylinders, bowls, and trimming, and are adding to those skills.

Tier 3     You're really getting good. Now you need to add the next level of skills that take focus and even more design like lids, spouts, and combining forms.

Purchasing Studio Time in addition to Class gives you studio access during retail hours. Practice makes you a better potter. Just like every other skill, the more you practice, the better you'll get!
